Engadget: Google demos HTML5-based Maps on the Tree Pre

Looks like offline Gmail on the iPhone wasn't the lone trick Google's Vic Gondotra has up his cloth covering during his talk at MWC -- he also gave a quick show of Google Maps running as a web app on the Tree Pre. Of course, what's newsworthy here is that the Pre's HTML-based SDK instrumentation that web apps can act like first class citizens on the tactical manoeuvre -- which is probably wherefore Vic known as the Pre "arguably one of my deary inclination." Hopefully that instrumentation we're exit to see a lot more than Pre devs really blur the line between topical and cloud-based applications, but for nowadays we'll just settle for the short show video recording aft the break.

Engadget: Google demos offline Gmail for iPhone, Humanoid at MWC
